  • Short brownouts for a fan, Wi-Fi and lights
  • Keeping a refrigerator running for some hours (check your fridge’s start-up surge)
  • Carrying around the house, to work or on trips
  • Recharging from solar panels (up to 110 W of input)

Less suited to

  • Aircons and heating appliances like kettles or irons

Estimated brownout runtimes

Runtime ≈ 256 Wh × 0.85 ÷ load (W). The 0.85 factor allows for usable capacity and AC conversion losses, in line with the factor EcoFlow and other makers use. Real runtime varies.

Estimated runtime by scenario
Scenario (example wattages)LoadEstimated runtime
Essentials: fan, Wi-Fi router, three LED bulbs 97 W 2 h 15 min
Essentials + phone charging + laptop 187 W 1 h 10 min
Essentials + refrigerator (compressor ~⅓ of the time) 130 W 1 h 40 min

What it can run on its own

Each appliance by itself, using example wattages. Motor appliances are checked against the surge rating at about 3× their running watts.

Example appliances and estimated runtime
ApplianceExample loadCan it run it?Runtime alone
Electric fan 60 W Yes 3 h 38 min
LED bulb × 3 27 W Yes 8 h 4 min
Wi-Fi router 10 W Yes 21 h 46 min
Phone charging × 2 30 W Yes 7 h 15 min
Laptop 60 W Yes 3 h 38 min
LED TV 80 W Yes 2 h 43 min
Refrigerator 100 W Yes 2 h 11 min
Chest freezer 100 W Yes 2 h 11 min
Desktop computer + monitor 150 W Yes 1 h 27 min
Rice cooker (cooking) 700 W No — output too low —
Water pump 370 W No — output too low —
Aircon (inverter, small room) 900 W No — output too low —

Fridges, freezers and aircons cycle on and off, so they usually last longer than the “runtime alone” figure suggests.

Recharging with solar

It accepts up to 110 W of solar input (11-30V, 8A). With about 4.7 peak sun hours a day (the Philippine average) and allowing about 20% for losses, a full recharge from empty takes roughly:

  • 0.6 sunny days with a 200 W panel

Estimate: capacity ÷ (panel watts ÷ 1.2 × peak sun hours). Cloudy weather, shading and panel angle reduce charging.

Notes: Specs are from the PH store Specs tab. X-Boost 600W comes from the www.ecoflow.com/ph/river-2-portable-power-station footnote ('RIVER 2 has a rated power of 300W, X-Boost 600W'). The 30 ms figure is an EPS auto-switch ('<30ms EPS auto-switch'), not a dedicated UPS rating. The AC outlet count is not stated. Prices are for the 'RIVER 2' (256Wh) variant. The store also sells a 'RIVER 2 240' variant (240Wh, specs not listed separately) at PHP 9,990 sale / 15,690 regular. All variants were marked 'Sold out' on 2026-10-27.
