Draft under review

This page is a working draft that has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It describes how this website currently operates in good faith, and it will be updated after professional review.

This policy explains how SmartEnergyPH (“SmartEnergyPH”, “we”) handles personal information when you use smartenergyph.com. We follow the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), its implementing rules, and issuances of the National Privacy Commission.

The short version

  • You can use every calculator and read every guide without giving us any personal information.
  • Calculator inputs stay in your browser. We never receive them.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. Its cookies are only set if you accept them. We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t sell personal information.
  • If you send us a solar quote inquiry, we use your details only for that inquiry and only share them with your consent.

Information we collect

When you use the calculators

Calculations run entirely in your browser. The household appliance inventory saves your list in your browser’s local storage on your device so it’s there next time; it is never sent to us. You can delete it with the calculator’s “Clear list” button or by clearing your browser’s site data.

When you send a solar quote inquiry

We collect the details you enter on the form:

  • location (region, province, city or municipality);
  • your approximate monthly electricity bill or consumption, property type, roof type (optional) and budget range;
  • your name, email address, mobile number (optional) and any message;
  • the date and time of your consent and the version of the consent wording you agreed to.

Purpose: to respond to your inquiry and, if you consented, to pass your details to solar installers we work with in your area so they can contact you about a quote. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect processing that already happened.

Sharing: we share inquiry details only with installers you consented to be referred to, and only the details they need to prepare a quote. We will not sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing.

Retention: we keep inquiries for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or the law requires us to keep them longer.

When a solar installer applies to join our network

We collect the company details and the contact person’s name, role, business email and phone number entered on the installer application form, plus the regions served, services, registration and licence numbers, and the date and version of the consent given. Purpose: to verify the company, decide whether to approve it, and contact it about joining and about homeowner referrals. Legal basis: consent and our legitimate interest in running the referral service. We keep applications for as long as the company is in our network, and for up to 12 months after a rejection or after it leaves, unless asked to delete them sooner.

To find installers to invite, we also keep a private list of companies from the Department of Energy’s public Solar PV Installer Registry, limited to business information (company name, business address and business contact details). It is not published on this website. Companies can ask us to remove their details at any time.

When you book an ad

We collect your business and contact details, the ad image, link and description, your payment reference and your proof of payment. Purpose: to verify payment, review and run your ad, and keep accounting records. Legal basis: our contract with you. We keep booking records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and delete ad images after your campaign unless you ask us to keep them.

When you email us

We use your email address and message to reply, and keep the correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your request.

Visitor statistics (no cookies)

We count page visits with our own privacy-friendly statistics so we know which pages are useful. When a page loads, your browser sends us the page address and the website you came from (for example, Google). We do not use cookies or similar identifiers for this, and we don’t store your IP address. To count unique visitors, we combine your IP address and browser type with a secret value that changes every day and keep only a one-way scrambled code, so we can’t identify you or follow you from one day to the next. We also count clicks on links to EcoFlow, as daily totals only. We keep only daily totals. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we don’t count your visit.

Google Analytics

We also use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to see how visitors use the site: which pages are read, how people arrive (for example from a Google search or Facebook), the approximate city and country, and the type of device. We use Google’s “consent mode”: Google Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept on our cookie notice. If you don’t, Google receives only cookieless signals (such as that a page was viewed) without an analytics cookie identifier. We have not turned on Google advertising features. Google may process this information outside the Philippines; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which shows the notice again.

Technical information

Our website is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses, browser type and requested pages in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Our own application logs record request outcomes and anonymous identifiers only; they do not record the contents of quote inquiries.

The quote form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam. Turnstile checks your browser for signs of automated activity; Cloudflare processes that information to provide the check.

Cookies and local storage

  • Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) are set only if you accept them on our cookie notice. They help us count visits and understand how the site is used, and last up to 2 years.
  • We do not set advertising cookies. Our own visitor statistics work without cookies (see above).
  • The admin area of this website uses one strictly necessary cookie to keep the site owner signed in. It is not used on public pages.
  • Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to tell people and bots apart and protect the site.
  • The appliance inventory uses your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) to remember your list on your device. Your cookie choice is also remembered in local storage.
  • Fonts are served from our own domain, so loading a page doesn’t send your information to a font provider.

If we ever add advertising cookies, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent.

Where your information is processed

Cloudflare and Google operate data centres around the world, so information may be processed outside the Philippines. We use providers that protect personal information with appropriate security measures.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. Quote inquiries are validated on our server, protected against spam, and stored with access limited to the site owner. No system is perfectly secure; if a personal data breach affects you, we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission as required by law.

Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your personal data is processed;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • object to processing and withdraw consent;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased or blocked;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • be indemnified for damages caused by inaccurate, unlawfully obtained or unauthorised use of your data; and
  • file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).

To exercise these rights, contact our privacy contact at smartenergyph.com@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the “last updated” date above.
