Solar Panels for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air (UPS): What Fits and One Caveat

Solar panels for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air (UPS): verified 400W and 4 x 125W setups, the 500W input limit, and why its specs come from the non-UPS manual.

Checked against the sources listed below. How we research.

Key takeaways

  • EcoFlow publishes no separate manual for the UPS version. Its solar specs come from the DELTA 3 1000 Air manual: 12-60V, 15A, 500W on one XT60i port.
  • EcoFlow sells the UPS model as a variant of the same DELTA 3 Air listing with the same 500W solar figure, so the limits are very likely the same, but not separately confirmed.
  • Verified matches: one 400W Lightweight panel, four 125W bifacial panels in parallel (500W), or two 220W single-face panels in series (440W).
  • What the UPS version adds is a 10 ms switchover (vs 20 ms on the standard 1000 Air), useful for a Wi-Fi router or desktop PC during brownouts.
  • Best case, 500W of panels could refill the 960Wh battery in about 1.9 hours of strong sun.

For the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air (UPS), use one EcoFlow 400W Lightweight panel (400W) or four EcoFlow 125W bifacial panels in parallel (500W). Its one XT60i solar port is rated 12-60V, 15A and 500W max.

First, the caveat about the specs

EcoFlow does not publish a separate manual for the UPS version. The port limits above come from the DELTA 3 1000 Air manual. We apply them because EcoFlow PH sells the UPS model as a variant of the same DELTA 3 Air listing with the same 500W solar spec, and EcoFlow Canada sells the 1000 Air as “DELTA 3 1000 Air (10ms UPS)” with 500W max PV input. So the limits are very likely the same, but EcoFlow hasn’t confirmed them separately for the PH UPS unit. Before wiring anything near the limits, check the rating printed beside your unit’s input port.

The setups below have plenty of room: none goes above 50V, and the highest current is 12.8A against a 15A limit.

What the UPS version is for

The stated difference is the switchover time: 10 ms on the UPS version vs 20 ms on the standard 1000 Air. That matters if you keep a Wi-Fi router, modem or desktop PC plugged in through the station so it stays on when the power cuts. Add solar and the same unit can recharge during the day after a night brownout.

Panels that fit

Panel Setup Volts / amps (open-circuit / short-circuit) Usable W Cable
125W bifacial 4 in parallel 50V / 12.8A 500W XT60W-to-XT60i included; panels daisy-chain
125W bifacial 2 in parallel 50V / 6.4A 250W Same
400W Lightweight 1, single 39.3V / 12.2A 400W None, built-in XT60
220W single-face 2 in series 43V / 12.4A 440W MC4-to-XT60i included
160W single-face 2 in series 42.6V / 9.1A 320W MC4-to-XT60i included

Avoid these: two 400W Lightweight in series (78.6V, over 60V), two 125W in series (100V), and two 220W or 160W in parallel (over 15A).

Why the 125W modular panel suits a UPS setup

The 125W bifacial panel is built for parallel use. EcoFlow’s PH store calls it a “50V design for parallelling”. You can start with two panels (250W) and add a third and fourth later, up to the 500W this port accepts. Each panel weighs about 4.2 kg, easier to handle than one 10.2 kg 400W panel. EcoFlow PH also sells a four-panel 500W set; only that set includes the MC4 adapter cables, which you don’t need for this station.

Charging estimate

Best case, hours ≈ 960Wh ÷ usable watts. That is about 1.9 hours with four 125W panels and 2.4 hours with one 400W panel. These are ideal figures. Real sun is weaker for most of the day, so expect it to take longer.

Setup

  1. Place the panels in full sun, away from shade from walls, grills or trees.
  2. For the 125W panels, link them in parallel with their own XT60W leads, then run the included XT60W-to-XT60i cable to the station.
  3. Plug into the XT60i input and check the incoming watts on the screen or app.

Portable panels like these can be set up by the owner following the manual. Wiring the station or panels into your house, breaker panel, roof or the grid needs a licensed electrician (PEE) and an LGU electrical permit.

What to buy

Check today’s price. See the DELTA 3 1000 Air (UPS) buyer guide, and use the EcoFlow runtime calculator to see how long it keeps your router and lights on.

Bottom line

The 1000 Air (UPS) takes up to 500W of solar on one port. Four 125W bifacial panels in parallel fill it exactly, and one 400W Lightweight panel is the simpler option. Its specs come from the standard 1000 Air manual, so confirm the port label on your unit.

Frequently asked questions

Is the DELTA 3 1000 Air (UPS) different from the DELTA 3 1000 Air for solar?
EcoFlow's PH store lists both with the same 500W solar input and 960Wh battery; the stated difference is the UPS switchover time (10 ms vs 20 ms). There is no separate UPS manual, so the 12-60V, 15A port limits come from the standard 1000 Air manual. Check the label on your unit's input port to confirm.
How many 125W EcoFlow panels can I connect to the DELTA 3 1000 Air (UPS)?
Four in parallel. Together they make 500W, 50V and 12.8A, which fits the 500W, 60V and 15A limits. A fifth panel would add nothing because the port tops out at 500W.
Can the 1000 Air (UPS) run my Wi-Fi during a brownout?
Check the watt rating on your router's adapter label. If it is well under the station's 500W AC output, it can run; to estimate how many hours, enter that wattage in our EcoFlow runtime calculator.
