Checked against the sources listed below. How we research.

Key takeaways

  • At 2HP, the TCL TAC-19CSD/P7 (FreshIN 3.0) leads verified splits: label CSPF 7.02, 1,450 W rated input, 5.42 kW capacity.
  • Next at 2HP: Midea MSCH-19CRFN8 Chione (CSPF 5.63, 1,758 W) and TCL TAC-19CSD/KEI2 (CSPF 5.18, 1,900 W).
  • The TCL P7 and KEI2 2HP have almost the same capacity, but the P7 is rated 450 W lower and its label shows 60.75 kWh less per month.
  • For 2.5HP and 3HP, the only verified splits with linked listings are the Midea MSCH-22CRFN8 (CSPF 5.83, 2,149 W) and MSCH-25CRFN8 (CSPF 5.63, 2,512 W).
  • Big units need a properly sized circuit; have a licensed electrician or authorised installer check your wiring.

The 2HP split type aircon that uses the least electricity, among verified models, is the TCL TAC-19CSD/P7 (FreshIN 3.0): CSPF 7.02 on its DOE label, 1,450 W rated input and 5.42 kW rated capacity. For 2.5HP and 3HP, the verified choices with store links are the Midea MSCH-22CRFN8 (CSPF 5.83, 2,149 W) and Midea MSCH-25CRFN8 (CSPF 5.63, 2,512 W).

How we ranked them

Within each HP size, by CSPF first and rated watts second. CSPF is the “Energy Efficiency Rating” on the DOE label: cooling per kWh over a standard season. We only ranked models with rated watts and CSPF confirmed by a DOE label or the manufacturer.

What stands out

At 2HP, the P7 saves real electricity. The TCL P7 and TCL KEI2 2HP are almost the same size (5.42 kW vs 5.44 kW), but the P7 is rated 450 W lower and has a much higher CSPF. Their labels were issued in the same year, so the monthly figures compare fairly: 195.75 kWh for the P7 against 256.5 kWh for the KEI2 on the label’s 9-hours-a-day basis. That is 60.75 kWh a month less, or about ₱729 a month at an example rate of ₱12 per kWh.

Midea sits in the middle at 2HP. The Chione MSCH-19CRFN8 is rated 1,758 W with a retailer-listed CSPF of 5.63. Midea lists a rated current of 7.64 A. A retailer also shows a “rated input power” of 3,000 W, which looks like a maximum; we use Midea’s figure.

Bigger sizes: only Midea is verified with a listing. The 2.5HP MSCH-22CRFN8 (9.34 A rated) and 3HP MSCH-25CRFN8 (10.92 A rated) are the only verified options at those sizes with linked stores. A TCL 3HP KEI2 label exists (2,840 W, CSPF 5.86), but we couldn’t confirm a linked listing that sells it.

Size for the room. Match the suggested area and rated capacity to your room. Our aircon electricity consumption guide explains why horsepower is a size class, not a wattage.

Example monthly cost

Example only: 8 hours a night, 30 days, example rate ₱12 per kWh (use your own from the electricity rates page). The “example factor 0.5” is the DOE’s older-label assumption that an inverter averages half its rated input; actual use varies.

Model Full power With example factor 0.5
TCL TAC-19CSD/P7, 2HP (1,450 W) 348 kWh, about ₱4,176 174 kWh, about ₱2,088
Midea MSCH-19CRFN8, 2HP (1,758 W) 421.9 kWh, about ₱5,063 211 kWh, about ₱2,532
TCL TAC-19CSD/KEI2, 2HP (1,900 W) 456 kWh, about ₱5,472 228 kWh, about ₱2,736
Midea MSCH-22CRFN8, 2.5HP (2,149 W) 515.8 kWh, about ₱6,189 257.9 kWh, about ₱3,095
Midea MSCH-25CRFN8, 3HP (2,512 W) 602.9 kWh, about ₱7,235 301.4 kWh, about ₱3,617

Not ranked (data not confirmed)

  • Midea MSAS-19CRFN8 / MSAS-25CRFN8: listings claim CSPF 6.9 and 5.6, but no rated watts or label were confirmed.
  • Everest ETIV20CFWD/G 2HP window: listing figures only, with an unverified “saves up to 60%” claim.
  • Tixx 2.0HP portable: no model code or specs could be verified.
  • Astron TCLSPV200 and Hisense 2HP+ splits: no specs we could confirm.

Where to buy

These are series listings, so pick the HP and check the model code before paying. At these sizes the aircon needs the right wire size and breaker. Have a licensed electrician check the circuit, and have a licensed technician or authorised installer fit the split.

Bottom line

For a 2HP split, the TCL TAC-19CSD/P7 is the most efficient verified choice by a wide margin. For 2.5HP and 3HP, the Midea Chione units are the verified options with store links.

Frequently asked questions

How many watts does a 2HP split type inverter aircon use?
Verified 2HP inverter splits are rated at 1,450 W (TCL TAC-19CSD/P7), 1,758 W (Midea MSCH-19CRFN8) and 1,900 W (TCL TAC-19CSD/KEI2) of power input. An inverter can run below this once the room is cool.
How much electricity does a 3HP split aircon use?
The Midea MSCH-25CRFN8 3HP is rated at 2,512 W input at standard cooling conditions, with a rated current of 10.92 A. Eight hours at full rated power would be about 20 kWh; an inverter will often use less once the room has cooled.
What room size is a 2HP aircon for?
Midea suggests 24 to 35 sqm for its 2HP Chione, and SM Appliance lists 25 to 40 sqm for the TCL TAC-19CSD/KEI2. Rooms with big windows, a hot roof or many people need more cooling.
Is there a verified 2HP window type aircon?
Not in our data. An Everest 2HP inverter window listing exists, but no label or maker spec with rated watts could be confirmed.
