Checked against the sources listed below. How we research.

Key takeaways

  • The TCL TAC-14CSD/P7 (FreshIN 3.0) leads verified 1.5HP splits: label CSPF 6.74, 1,000 W rated input and 3.89 kW capacity.
  • Second is the TCL TAC-12CSD/FBI (FreshIN 2.0): CSPF 6.34 at 1,130 W per its DOE label.
  • The Samsung AR60H13D1FWNTC (CSPF 5.70, 1,030 W) and Midea MSCH-13CRFN8 Chione (CSPF 5.45, 1,250 W) follow.
  • The TCL TAC-13CSD/KEI2 draws the most at full load (1,300 W) and has the lowest CSPF here (4.92).
  • Example: at 8 hours a night, an example ₱12 per kWh and an assumed inverter factor of 0.5, the P7 would cost about ₱432 a month less than the KEI2.

The 1.5HP split type aircon that uses the least electricity, among verified models, is the TCL TAC-14CSD/P7 (FreshIN 3.0): CSPF 6.74 on its DOE label, 1,000 W rated input and 3.89 kW rated capacity. The TCL TAC-12CSD/FBI (CSPF 6.34, 1,130 W) is second, and the Samsung AR60H13D1FWNTC (CSPF 5.70, 1,030 W) is third.

How we ranked them

CSPF first, then rated watts. CSPF is the label’s “Energy Efficiency Rating”: the cooling delivered per kWh over a standard cooling season. We ranked only models with rated watts and CSPF from a DOE label or the manufacturer.

5 TCL TAC-13CSD/KEI2 1,300 W 4.92 5 (label) 3.61 kW (13,000 kJ/h) 15–23 sqm

What stands out

The P7 is the most efficient and the biggest. It has the highest CSPF, the lowest rated watts and the most capacity (3.89 kW) of any verified 1.5HP split. Low watts here don’t mean a small unit.

Same capacity, very different running costs: FBI vs KEI2. Both TCL units are rated 3.61 kW and 13,000 kJ/h for 15–23 sqm. The FBI does it at 1,130 W and CSPF 6.34; the KEI2 at 1,300 W and CSPF 4.92. For the same room, the FBI is the clear choice on electricity. TCL’s FBI spec sheet lists a rated current of 4.7 A, a maximum of 8.5 A and a maximum input of 1,900 W.

Samsung is a close third on watts. At 1,030 W it is only 30 W above the P7. SM Appliance also lists an EER of 12.29 kJ/h per W. Its label monthly figure (139.05 kWh) can be compared with the P7’s (135 kWh) because both labels were issued in the same year. As a check, 1.03 kW × 9 hours × 30 days × 0.5 = 139.05 kWh, the DOE formula for inverter units on older labels.

Midea Chione: watch which watts you read. Midea lists 1,250 W at standard cooling conditions. A retailer also shows a “rated input power” of 2,050 W, which looks like a maximum. Use Midea’s figure.

Example monthly cost

Example only: 8 hours a night, 30 days, at an example rate of ₱12 per kWh (your own rate: electricity rates page). The “example factor 0.5” is the DOE’s older-label assumption that an inverter averages half its rated input; real use depends on your room.

Model Full power With example factor 0.5
TCL TAC-14CSD/P7 (1,000 W) 240 kWh, about ₱2,880 120 kWh, about ₱1,440
Samsung AR60H13D1FWNTC (1,030 W) 247.2 kWh, about ₱2,966 123.6 kWh, about ₱1,483
TCL TAC-12CSD/FBI (1,130 W) 271.2 kWh, about ₱3,254 135.6 kWh, about ₱1,627
Midea MSCH-13CRFN8 (1,250 W) 300 kWh, about ₱3,600 150 kWh, about ₱1,800
TCL TAC-13CSD/KEI2 (1,300 W) 312 kWh, about ₱3,744 156 kWh, about ₱1,872

On these example assumptions, the P7 costs about ₱432 a month less than the KEI2. Over a hot season of heavy use, that gap matters. Run your own hours in the aircon electricity cost calculator.

Where to buy

Several are series listings, so choose 1.5HP and confirm the model code. A split needs refrigerant piping and proper wiring, so have a licensed technician or authorised installer fit it.

Bottom line

For a 1.5HP split, the TCL TAC-14CSD/P7 is the most efficient verified choice, with the TCL TAC-12CSD/FBI close behind. The Samsung AR60H13D1FWNTC is a solid third. If you’re comparing against a window unit, see window vs split: which uses less electricity.

Frequently asked questions

How many watts does a 1.5HP split type inverter use?
Verified 1.5HP inverter splits are rated at 1,000 W to 1,300 W of power input: TCL TAC-14CSD/P7 1,000 W, Samsung AR60H13D1FWNTC 1,030 W, TCL TAC-12CSD/FBI 1,130 W, Midea MSCH-13CRFN8 1,250 W and TCL TAC-13CSD/KEI2 1,300 W. Inverters can run well below this once the room is cool.
Why do two figures exist for the TCL FBI 1.5HP's watts?
TCL's spec sheet says 1,050 W rated input, but the DOE energy label says 1,130 W. We use the label figure. The CSPF of 6.34 matches on both.
Can I compare the monthly kWh on the Samsung and TCL P7 labels?
Yes. Both labels were issued in the same year and use the same method: 139.05 kWh for the Samsung and 135 kWh for the TCL P7, both on the label's 9-hours-a-day basis.
Do I need a dedicated circuit for a 1.5HP split?
Ask a licensed electrician or the authorised installer. Midea lists a rated current of 5.09 A for its 1.5HP Chione, and TCL lists a maximum of 8.5 A for the FBI. The installer should check your wiring and breaker for that load.
