Best Solar Panel for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic: Small, Medium and Full 500W Setups

Which EcoFlow solar panels work with the DELTA 3 Classic (11-60V, 15A, 500W): verified small, medium and full-power setups, cables needed and charge-time estimates.

Key takeaways

  • The DELTA 3 Classic has one XT60i solar input rated 11-60V, 15A, 500W max (manual).
  • Small: one 220W single-face panel (220W). Medium: two 220W in series (440W) or one 400W Lightweight (400W). Full: four 125W bifacial in parallel (500W).
  • The Classic is not expandable, so its 1024Wh battery is all you have to fill; 500W of panels covers that in about 2 hours of ideal sun.
  • Don't wire two 220W panels in parallel (24.8A) or two 400W Lightweight in series (78.6V); both exceed the port.

For the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic, the verified choices are one or two EcoFlow 220W single-face panels (220W, or 440W in series), one EcoFlow 400W Lightweight panel (400W), or four EcoFlow 125W bifacial panels in parallel for the full 500W. Its single XT60i solar input is rated 11-60V, 15A and 500W.

Pick a size

The Classic holds 1024Wh and can’t take an extra battery, so there’s no point buying more than 500W of panels for it. Choose by how much you want to carry and spend.

Size Panels Wiring Volts / amps Usable W Cable
Small 1 × 220W single-face single 21.5V / 12.4A 220W MC4-to-XT60i included
Small 1 × 160W single-face single 21.3V / 9.1A 160W MC4-to-XT60i included
Medium 2 × 220W single-face series 43V / 12.4A 440W Included cable; panels join MC4 to MC4
Medium 1 × 400W Lightweight single 39.3V / 12.2A 400W None, built-in XT60
Full 4 × 125W bifacial parallel 50V / 12.8A 500W XT60W-to-XT60i included

Setups that fail: two 220W in parallel (24.8A), three 220W in series (64.5V), two 400W Lightweight in series (78.6V), and two 125W in series (100V).

Start small, grow later

A good path for a first-time buyer is to start with one EcoFlow 220W single-face panel. It’s enough to put back some charge each day after a brownout. Later, add a second identical 220W panel and join them in series: the MC4 leads connect male-to-female, then the included MC4-to-XT60i cable to the station. That doubles the voltage to 43V but keeps current at 12.4A, so it stays within the 15A limit. EcoFlow’s panel manuals recommend series wiring for portable power stations.

Don’t join them in parallel. That keeps the voltage but adds the current to 24.8A, over the Classic’s 15A.

Charging estimate

Best case, hours ≈ 1024Wh ÷ usable watts. This is an estimate; real panels deliver less than their rating most of the day.

  • 1 × 220W: about 4.7 hours
  • 2 × 220W in series (440W): about 2.3 hours
  • 1 × 400W Lightweight: about 2.6 hours
  • 4 × 125W (500W): about 2.0 hours

As an example assumption, with 4 peak sun hours one 220W panel gives up to about 880Wh a day, before real-world losses. Our runtime guide shows how to work out what you use.

Setup steps

  1. Put the panel or panels in full sun, clear of shade.
  2. Make any series links (MC4 to MC4) or parallel links (125W XT60W leads) first.
  3. Connect the cable to the Classic’s XT60i input.
  4. Check incoming watts on the screen.

These portable panels can be set up by the owner following the manual. Anything wired into the home, a breaker panel, the roof or the grid needs a licensed electrician (PEE) and an LGU electrical permit.

Bottom line

Start with one 220W panel and add a second in series for 440W, or go straight to one 400W Lightweight. Four 125W bifacial panels in parallel fill the Classic’s full 500W input.

Frequently asked questions

What is the solar input of the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic?
One XT60i port rated 11-60V, 15A and 500W max, according to EcoFlow's DELTA 3 Classic manual. The manual's rule is to keep total panel Voc within 60V and total Isc within 15A.
Can I use one 220W EcoFlow panel with the DELTA 3 Classic?
Yes. One 220W single-face panel is 21.5V and 12.4A, inside the 60V and 15A limits, and its included MC4-to-XT60i cable plugs into the Classic's input. Add a second in series later for 440W.
Can I add a battery to the DELTA 3 Classic?
No. EcoFlow's PH store lists no extra battery port for the Classic. If you want to expand later, compare the DELTA 3 or DELTA 3 Plus.
