Best Solar Panel for the EcoFlow DELTA 3: What EcoFlow Recommends, Checked

The best solar panel for the EcoFlow DELTA 3: EcoFlow's own picks (one 400W Lightweight, or the 4 x 125W set) checked against its 11-60V, 15A, 500W input.

By SmartEnergyPH Editorial 3 min read

Checked against the sources listed below. How we research.

Key takeaways

  • The DELTA 3 has one XT60i solar input: 11-60V, 15A, 500W max. Its manual says to keep total Voc within 60V and total Isc within 15A.
  • EcoFlow's 400W Lightweight manual recommends one 400W Lightweight panel for the DELTA 3. Our check agrees: 39.3V, 12.2A, 400W.
  • EcoFlow says one 500W set of four 125W bifacial panels can fully charge the DELTA 3 "in as fast as 2-3 hours"; four in parallel pass our check at 50V and 12.8A.
  • EcoFlow claims 500W of solar fills the DELTA 3 in 130 minutes (lab/optimal conditions).
  • Adding extra batteries (up to about 5kWh) doesn't raise the 500W solar limit, so refills take longer.

The best solar panel for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 is one EcoFlow 400W Lightweight panel, which EcoFlow itself recommends for this station, or four EcoFlow 125W bifacial panels in parallel to use the full 500W input. The DELTA 3’s single XT60i solar port is rated 11-60V, 15A and 500W.

What EcoFlow recommends, and what we checked

EcoFlow’s panel manuals and store pages make specific DELTA 3 claims. We checked each one against the DELTA 3 manual’s rule: total open-circuit voltage (Voc) within 60V, total short-circuit current (Isc) within 15A. We also keep 5% below the voltage limit (57V).

EcoFlow’s recommendation Our check Usable W
1 × 400W Lightweight (400W Lightweight manual) OK: 39.3V, 12.2A 400W
4 × 125W bifacial set, “fully charge DELTA 3 in as fast as 2-3 hours” (EcoFlow PH) OK in parallel: 50V, 12.8A 500W
2 × 220W Lightweight in series (220W Lightweight manual) Not in our product list (see below) —

About that last row: the 220W panel we link is EcoFlow’s NextGen 220W single-face panel, which is a different product from the 220W Lightweight. We checked the NextGen separately: two in series make 43V and 12.4A, which is OK for 440W.

Full compatibility

Panel Setup Volts / amps Usable W Cable
400W Lightweight 1, single 39.3V / 12.2A 400W None, built-in XT60
125W bifacial 4 in parallel 50V / 12.8A 500W XT60W-to-XT60i included
220W single-face 2 in series 43V / 12.4A 440W MC4-to-XT60i included
160W single-face 2 in series 42.6V / 9.1A 320W MC4-to-XT60i included
400W rigid (2-pack) 1 panel only 37.1V / 13.79A 400W Not included; buy a Solar-to-XT60i cable

Not OK: two 400W Lightweight in series (78.6V), either kind of two-panel 400W rigid setup, two 220W or 160W in parallel, and two 125W in series (100V).

Charging, with and without extra batteries

EcoFlow claims 500W of solar fills the DELTA 3 in 130 minutes. That’s a lab figure. Our simple estimate is similar: 1024Wh ÷ 500W ≈ 2.0 hours best case, or 1024Wh ÷ 400W ≈ 2.6 hours with one 400W Lightweight. Expect longer in real sun.

The DELTA 3 can take extra batteries, up to EcoFlow’s rounded figure of 5kWh. The solar input stays at 500W, so filling 5kWh would take about 10 hours of full 500W output, more than most days give. If you plan to expand a lot, look at the DELTA 3 Plus, which has two 500W inputs.

Setup steps

  1. Unfold the panel(s) in full sun, angled toward the sun.
  2. For four 125W panels, link them in parallel with their XT60W leads; for two 220W panels, join the MC4 leads in series.
  3. Plug into the DELTA 3’s XT60i input and watch the input watts on the screen.

Portable panels can be set up by the owner following the manual. Wiring into your house, breaker panel, roof or the grid needs a licensed electrician (PEE) and an LGU electrical permit; net metering also goes through your electric company (see our net metering guide).

Bottom line

One 400W Lightweight panel is EcoFlow’s own pick for the DELTA 3 and passes our check. Four 125W bifacial panels in parallel use the full 500W. Never put two 400W panels on its one port.

Frequently asked questions

How many watts of solar can the EcoFlow DELTA 3 take?
500W max through one XT60i input rated 11-60V and 15A. Panels above 500W total won't charge it any faster.
How long does the DELTA 3 take to charge on solar?
EcoFlow claims 130 minutes with 500W of solar, under optimal conditions. With four 125W bifacial panels, EcoFlow PH says 2-3 hours. Real Philippine conditions with heat, haze or clouds will usually take longer.
Can I connect two 400W panels to the DELTA 3?
No. Two 400W Lightweight panels in series make 78.6V (limit 60V), and two 400W rigid panels in series make 74.2V or in parallel 27.58A (limit 15A). Use one 400W panel.
Is the DELTA 3 the same as the DELTA 3 Plus for solar?
No. The DELTA 3 has one 500W solar input; the DELTA 3 Plus has two, for 1000W total.
