Solar Panel for the EcoFlow RIVER 3 UPS: Keeping Wi-Fi Backup Topped Up by Sun
Which solar panels fit the EcoFlow RIVER 3 UPS (11-30V, 8A, 110W): the 45W and 60W panels. How much one day of sun puts back into its 245Wh battery.
Checked against the sources listed below. How we research.
Key takeaways
- The RIVER 3 UPS shares the RIVER 3's solar input: 11-30V, 8A, 110W max (XT60i). EcoFlow PH says 110W solar charges it 0-100% in as fast as 2.6 hours.
- Verified fits: one EcoFlow 45W panel, one 60W panel, or two 60W panels in parallel.
- Its selling point is a switchover of under 10 ms, popular for routers and modems during brownouts. Solar is the way to refill it when the grid stays down.
- Example: a 45W panel over 4 peak sun hours gives about 150Wh into the battery after a 20% allowance, roughly 60% of 245Wh.
- Not compatible: 125W bifacial, 160W, 220W, 400W Lightweight and 400W rigid panels.
On this page
The EcoFlow RIVER 3 UPS takes the same small solar panels as the RIVER 3: one EcoFlow 45W panel, one EcoFlow 60W panel, or two 60W panels in parallel for the full 110W. Its input is 11-30V and 8A, so larger EcoFlow panels do not fit.
Why pair solar with a UPS-style station
The EcoFlow RIVER 3 UPS has a 245Wh battery, 300W AC output (600W X-Boost) and a switchover time of under 10 ms. Many households keep one plugged in behind the modem and router so Wi-Fi stays up when the power cuts.
The weak spot is a long outage. Once the grid is down for most of a day, a wall socket can’t refill the battery. A small panel on a sunny window ledge, balcony or yard can. See our brownout backup guide for planning the rest of your setup.
Compatibility table
Solar input: 11-30V, 8A, 110W max, XT60i port (EcoFlow RIVER 3 manual, which covers the 10 ms UPS version).
| Panel | OK? | Count and wiring | Usable watts | Cable / adapter | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EcoFlow 45W (Type-C) | Yes | 1, single | 45W | DC5521-to-XT60i (1.5 m), included | Lazada |
| EcoFlow 60W | Yes | 1, single | 60W | Solar (MC4)-to-XT60i, included | Lazada |
| EcoFlow 60W | Yes | 2, parallel | 110W | Included cable plus EcoFlow Solar Parallel Connection Cable (sold separately) | Lazada |
| EcoFlow 60W, 2 in series | No | — | — | — | About 51V, above 30V |
| EcoFlow 125W bifacial | No | — | — | — | 50V Voc, above 30V |
| EcoFlow 160W / 220W single-face | No | — | — | — | Current above 8A |
| EcoFlow 400W Lightweight / rigid | No | — | — | — | Above 30V and 8A |
The 60W figures in our check are EcoFlow’s worst-case published numbers, because its own pages disagree. Even so, two in parallel stay at 25.6V and 7A.
How much does one day of sun put back?
Example assumptions, not measurements: the panel delivers its rated watts for each peak sun hour, and about 20% is lost in charging (EcoFlow’s published 2.6 hours at 110W is about 17% longer than 245 ÷ 110).
| Setup | 3 peak sun hours | 4 peak sun hours | 5 peak sun hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 × 45W | about 113Wh (46%) | about 150Wh (61%) | about 188Wh (77%) |
| 1 × 60W | about 150Wh (61%) | about 200Wh (82%) | full |
| 2 × 60W parallel (110W) | full | full | full |
What that means for Wi-Fi: if your modem and router draw, say, 20W together (check their labels), 150Wh ÷ 20W ≈ 7.5 hours at most. Real runtime is shorter because the inverter uses some energy too. Run your own numbers in the EcoFlow runtime calculator.
Placement tips for a home setup
- The panel needs direct sun. Behind window glass or in the shade of a roof overhang, output drops.
- The 45W panel’s cable is 1.5 m, so the station has to sit close to the panel, or bring the panel to the station.
- Keep the RIVER 3 UPS indoors and dry. Only the panel goes outside, and it comes in before typhoon winds or heavy rain.
Setup steps
- Put the panel in full sun with no shade on any cell.
- Connect its included cable to the RIVER 3 UPS’s XT60i solar input. For two 60W panels, join them with the parallel cable first.
- Check that solar watts show on the display.
Portable panels can be set up by the owner following the manual. Anything wired into the house, a breaker panel or the roof needs a licensed electrician and an LGU electrical permit.
What to buy

Bottom line
For the RIVER 3 UPS, a 45W panel is the easy daily top-up and two 60W panels in parallel can refill it fully on a clear day. Larger EcoFlow panels exceed its 30V or 8A limits.
