Key takeaways

  • The TCL TAC-12CWI/UB2 is a 1.5HP AI full DC inverter window aircon: 1,100 W rated input, CSPF 5.04, 5 stars on its DOE label.
  • A Lazada listing says '1550 watts'. Use the label's 1,100 W for comparisons and cost estimates.
  • At full rated power, 10 hours a day for 30 days is 330 kWh, about ₱3,960 at an example ₱12/kWh. Inverter units usually average less once the room is cool.
  • Among verified 1.5HP window units, the Kolin KA-150GQAIINV32 rates higher (CSPF 5.53, 1,010 W). The TCL UB2 beats the TCL UJE2 1.5HP and iFFALCON 1.5HP on CSPF.

The 1,550 W listing figure

The Lazada listing for this unit mentions “1550 watts”. The DOE energy label shows 1,100 W, and the label’s power input is the official rated value. We use the label figure. If you are sizing a generator or a backup power system, ask TCL for the maximum input, since an inverter can draw more than its rated watts while cooling a hot room down.

What it costs to run each month

A 1.5HP unit often cools a living area through the afternoon and evening, so this example uses 10 hours a day:

monthly kWh = watts × hours per day × days ÷ 1,000

  • At full rated power: 1,100 × 10 × 30 ÷ 1,000 = 330 kWh, about ₱3,960 at an example rate of ₱12 per kWh (use your own bill’s rate).
  • At half the rated input on average (an example assumption; the label uses the same 0.5 factor for inverters, but real use varies): 165 kWh, about ₱1,980.

For 8 hours a night instead, the full-power figure is 264 kWh (about ₱3,168). Try your own numbers in the aircon electricity cost calculator and check your rate on the electricity rates page.

How it compares with other 1.5HP window aircons

Model Rated input CSPF Cooling capacity Stars
Kolin KA-150GQAIINV32 1,010 W 5.53 3.89 kW 4 (newer label)
TCL TAC-12CWI/UB2 1,100 W 5.04 3.33 kW 5
iFFALCON IFAC-12CWI/UL 1,150 W 4.88 3.33 kW 5
TCL TAC-12CWI/UJE2 1,170 W 4.36 3.52 kW 5

The Kolin KA-150GQAIINV32 stands out: fewer rated watts, more cooling and a higher CSPF. Its 4 stars come from a newer label with different star bands, so the CSPF is the fairer comparison. Note that some Kolin listings advertise 5 stars; its label shows 4.

Against TCL’s own TAC-12CWI/UJE2, the UB2 uses 70 W less at its rated point and has a clearly higher CSPF (5.04 vs 4.36). The UJE2 has slightly more cooling capacity. The iFFALCON IFAC-12CWI/UL has the same 3.33 kW capacity as the UB2 but more watts and a lower CSPF.

If you can fit a split type, TCL’s TAC-14CSD/P7 rates much higher (CSPF 6.74 at 1,000 W). It costs more to buy and install, though. See inverter vs non-inverter aircons for how to weigh price against running cost.

Who the TAC-12CWI/UB2 suits

  • Homes that already have a window opening sized for a 1.5HP unit and want a 5-star inverter without a split-type installation.
  • Long daily use in a medium room, where CSPF 5.04 should keep running costs below older non-inverter window units.
  • Buyers who want both Shopee and Lazada official-store options. The Kolin alternative is on Lazada only.

Get a licensed technician or TCL’s authorised installer to fit it, and make sure the circuit suits a 1.5HP unit. Our aircon electricity consumption guide covers settings and cleaning that cut the bill.

Bottom line

Judge the TCL TAC-12CWI/UB2 on its label: 1,100 W, CSPF 5.04, 5 stars. It is a solid 1.5HP window inverter and more efficient than TCL’s UJE2 1.5HP. If you want the highest CSPF in a 1.5HP window unit, look at the Kolin KA-150GQAIINV32.

Frequently asked questions

How many watts is the TCL 1.5HP UB2 window aircon?
Its DOE energy label lists a power input of 1,100 W. That is the rated figure at standard test conditions. Inverter units can briefly draw more during pull-down and less once the room is cool.
Why does a listing say 1,550 watts?
The listing figure doesn't match the label. TCL hasn't published an explanation we could find; it may be a maximum figure. Rely on the 1,100 W printed on the DOE label.
Is the TCL TAC-12CWI/UB2 good for a living room?
It can suit a medium room, but we couldn't confirm a reliable room-size range. SM Appliance's 25–40 m² figure looks too high next to the 1HP's 15–23 m², so ask the seller or an installer to size it for your room.
What is the cooling capacity of the TAC-12CWI/UB2?
3.33 kW on the DOE label, which SM Appliance lists as 12,000 kJ/h.
