How Long Does It Take to Charge an EcoFlow with Solar in the Philippines?

How long to charge an EcoFlow with solar in the Philippines: Wh ÷ usable solar watts, plus losses and sun hours. Worked for RIVER 3, RIVER 2 Pro and DELTA 3.

Checked against the sources listed below. How we research.

Key takeaways

  • Hours of full sun ≈ battery capacity (Wh) ÷ usable solar watts, where usable watts is the smaller of the panel rating and the station's solar maximum.
  • Add an allowance for losses. EcoFlow's own published solar times run about 6-23% longer than simple division; we use 20% as an example.
  • Turn hours into days with peak sun hours. We use 3-5 as example values only, not measurements for any town.
  • Worked examples: RIVER 3 + 45W ≈ 6.5 h; RIVER 2 Pro + 220W ≈ 4.2 h; DELTA 3 + 400W Lightweight ≈ 3.1 h of full sun.

  7. Bottom line

An EcoFlow needs roughly its battery capacity (Wh) divided by the solar watts it can actually accept, plus about 20% for losses, in hours of full sun. For example, a 245Wh RIVER 3 on a 45W panel needs about 6.5 hours of full sun, a 768Wh RIVER 2 Pro on 220W about 4.2 hours, and a 1,024Wh DELTA 3 on a 400W panel about 3.1 hours. How many days that takes depends on your weather.

The method in four steps

1. Find the battery capacity (Wh). It’s on the spec sheet: RIVER 3 is 245Wh, RIVER 2 Pro 768Wh, DELTA 3 1,024Wh.

2. Find the usable solar watts. This is the smaller of:

  • the panel’s rated watts (all panels added up), and
  • the station’s solar maximum (110W for RIVER 3, 220W for RIVER 2 Pro, 500W for DELTA 3).

The panel must also be compatible with the station’s voltage and current limits. See how to charge an EcoFlow with solar panels.

3. Divide, then add an allowance for losses. Hours of full sun ≈ Wh ÷ usable W × 1.2

The 1.2 is an example assumption, not an EcoFlow figure. We picked it by comparing EcoFlow’s own best-case solar times with simple division:

EcoFlow’s published figure Simple division How much longer
RIVER 3, 110W: 2.6 h 245 ÷ 110 = 2.2 h about 17%
RIVER 3 + 45W panel: 6.3 h 245 ÷ 45 = 5.4 h about 16%
RIVER 3 Plus, 220W: 1.5 h 286 ÷ 220 = 1.3 h about 15%
RIVER 3 Max, 220W: 3.2 h 572 ÷ 220 = 2.6 h about 23%
DELTA 3, 500W: 130 min 1,024 ÷ 500 = 123 min about 6%

These are lab or ideal-sun times, so real days run longer still.

4. Turn hours into days with peak sun hours. One “peak sun hour” is an hour’s worth of full-strength sunlight. A day might give 3, 4 or 5 of them. These are example values, not measurements for your location; cloudy rainy-season days can give far fewer.

Days ≈ hours of full sun needed ÷ peak sun hours per day

Worked example 1: RIVER 3 + one 45W panel

  • Capacity 245Wh; usable watts 45W (the RIVER 3 takes up to 110W)
  • 245 ÷ 45 × 1.2 ≈ 6.5 hours of full sun (EcoFlow says 6.3)
  • At 4 example peak sun hours: 6.5 ÷ 4 ≈ 1.6 days

A good match for a router or fan top-up, but not a one-day full refill. Shop: EcoFlow RIVER 3 on Shopee and the EcoFlow 45W panel on Lazada. More in our RIVER 3 solar guide.

Worked example 2: RIVER 2 Pro + one 220W single-face panel

  • Capacity 768Wh; usable watts 220W (panel 220W, station max 220W)
  • 768 ÷ 220 × 1.2 ≈ 4.2 hours
  • At 4 example peak sun hours: about 1.05 days, so just short of full; at 5, it fits in one day

Worked example 3: DELTA 3 + one 400W Lightweight panel

  • Capacity 1,024Wh; usable watts 400W (station max 500W). EcoFlow’s 400W Lightweight manual recommends one of these panels for the DELTA 3, and it passes our check (39.3V, 12.2A on a 60V, 15A input).
  • 1,024 ÷ 400 × 1.2 ≈ 3.1 hours
  • At 4 example peak sun hours: about 0.8 days, so one clear day is enough

Summary of the three examples

Setup Usable W Hours of full sun (with 20%) Days at 3 / 4 / 5 example sun hours
RIVER 3 + 45W 45W about 6.5 h 2.2 / 1.6 / 1.3
RIVER 2 Pro + 220W 220W about 4.2 h 1.4 / 1.05 / 0.8
DELTA 3 + 400W Lightweight 400W about 3.1 h 1.0 / 0.8 / 0.6

You rarely start from empty, though. If you use half the battery overnight in a brownout, halve the hours. To see what a full battery will run, use the EcoFlow runtime calculator or our runtime guide.

Plug-and-play portable panels can be set up by the owner following the manual. A roof-mounted or house-wired system needs a licensed electrician and an LGU electrical permit.

Bottom line

Divide battery Wh by the usable solar watts, add about 20%, and compare the result with the sun hours you can count on. If the answer is more than one day, either accept a top-up routine or choose a station with a bigger solar input.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my EcoFlow charge slower than the box says?
EcoFlow's solar times are best-case figures. Real panels give less than their rating in haze, heat, low sun and partial shade, and some energy is lost while charging. Planning with an allowance of about 20% and fewer sun hours than you hope for gives a safer estimate.
Does a bigger panel always charge faster?
Only up to the station's solar maximum. A RIVER 2 Pro accepts at most 220W, so a 400W panel cannot charge it faster than a 220W setup.
How many peak sun hours does the Philippines get?
It varies by place, season and weather, and we don't quote a single figure. This guide uses 3, 4 and 5 peak sun hours as example assumptions to show the range.
Can I charge an EcoFlow fully in one day of sun?
Yes, if the hours of full sun it needs (with losses) are fewer than the day's peak sun hours. A DELTA 3 on a 400W panel needs about 3.1 hours by our estimate; a RIVER 3 on a 45W panel needs about 6.5 hours, which is often more than one day.
