Key takeaways

  • The DELTA 3 Plus has two XT60i solar inputs, each 11-60V, 15A, 500W, for 1000W total (manual).
  • EcoFlow's 400W Lightweight manual recommends two 400W Lightweight panels for the DELTA 3 Plus, one per port (800W).
  • The two 400W panels must go into separate ports. Joined in series on one port they make 78.6V, over the 60V limit.
  • For the full 1000W: four 125W bifacial panels in parallel on each port (8 panels).
  • EcoFlow claims the DELTA 3 Plus charges fully in 70 minutes with two 500W solar inputs (optimal conditions).

The best solar setup for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus is two EcoFlow 400W Lightweight panels, one in each solar port, for 800W. That’s EcoFlow’s own recommendation. For the full 1000W, use four EcoFlow 125W bifacial panels in parallel on each port. Each of the two XT60i inputs is rated 11-60V, 15A and 500W.

The key point: one panel group per port

The DELTA 3 Plus looks like the DELTA 3 but has a second solar input, and both can charge at the same time. That’s what lets it take 1000W instead of 500W.

The 60V and 15A limits apply to each port separately. Two 400W Lightweight panels are fine on two ports, but on one port in series they reach 78.6V, which is over the limit. EcoFlow also says parallel wiring is not recommended for its Lightweight panels.

Setups per port

Panel Per port Volts / amps Usable W per port Total on both ports Cable
400W Lightweight 1, single 39.3V / 12.2A 400W 800W None, built-in XT60
125W bifacial 4 in parallel 50V / 12.8A 500W 1000W XT60W-to-XT60i included
220W single-face 2 in series 43V / 12.4A 440W 880W MC4-to-XT60i included
160W single-face 2 in series 42.6V / 9.1A 320W 640W MC4-to-XT60i included
400W rigid (2-pack) 1, single 37.1V / 13.79A 400W 800W Not included; buy 2 Solar-to-XT60i cables

You can mix: for example, a 400W Lightweight on port 1 and two 220W panels in series on port 2 gives 840W.

Charging estimate

EcoFlow claims a full charge in 70 minutes with two 500W solar inputs. That’s an optimal-condition figure. Our best-case maths for the 1024Wh battery:

  • 1000W (8 × 125W): 1024 ÷ 1000 ≈ 1.0 hour
  • 800W (2 × 400W Lightweight): 1024 ÷ 800 ≈ 1.3 hours
  • 400W (1 × 400W Lightweight, one port only): ≈ 2.6 hours

Real output is lower for most of the day. Having 800W or more of panels gives you more margin on hazy or rainy-season days, when every panel produces less.

If you add DELTA 3 series extra batteries (EcoFlow says 1-5kWh total), the two inputs matter even more: 5,000Wh ÷ 1000W is about 5 hours of full output, compared with about 10 hours on a single-input DELTA 3.

Setup steps

  1. Set up each panel group in full sun.
  2. Do any series or parallel links within a group first.
  3. Plug group 1 into solar input 1 and group 2 into solar input 2. Never join the two groups together.
  4. Check the screen or app shows watts on both inputs.

Portable panels can be set up by the owner using the manual. Anything wired into the home, a breaker panel, the roof or the grid needs a licensed electrician (PEE) and an LGU electrical permit.

Bottom line

Put one 400W Lightweight panel in each of the DELTA 3 Plus’s two inputs, as EcoFlow recommends, for 800W. Eight 125W bifacial panels (four per port) reach the full 1000W.

Frequently asked questions

How much solar can the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus handle?
1000W: two XT60i inputs of 500W each, both rated 11-60V and 15A. EcoFlow's manual lists '500W Max per port, total 1000W'.
Can I plug two 400W EcoFlow panels into the DELTA 3 Plus?
Yes, one 400W Lightweight panel into each port. That's EcoFlow's own recommendation. Don't join the two in series on one port: 78.6V is over the 60V limit.
How fast does the DELTA 3 Plus charge from solar?
EcoFlow claims a full charge in 70 minutes with both 500W inputs in use, under optimal conditions. Our best-case estimate with two 400W panels (800W) is about 1.3 hours; real sun usually takes longer.
