The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Max is sold as a RIVER 3 Plus with a RIVER 3 Plus Smart Extra Battery 300 attached: 572Wh in total, 600W AC output (1200W X-Boost), about 8.4 kg. The extra battery has no solar input. All solar goes into the RIVER 3 Plus unit’s XT60i port:

The 400W Lightweight’s front-side current (12.2A) is within 13A, but its bifacial rating (13.5A) can go above it, and the station only uses 220W.
About EcoFlow’s own recommendation: the 220W Lightweight manual lists one 220W Lightweight panel for the RIVER 3 Max. Why two 160W panels in series suit this model
With 572Wh to fill, you want the station at its 220W cap for as many hours as possible. - Two 160W: join their MC4 leads male-to-female in series, then connect the MC4-to-XT60i cable. Two 125W: daisy-chain the XT60W leads, then use the XT60W-to-XT60i cable.
- Plug into the solar input on the RIVER 3 Plus unit, not the extra battery.
- Check the solar watts on the display. Keep the station shaded and dry.
